Interest group : - organization
- fight particular group in the society, fight for the interest, welfare.
- Religion, race, ethnic, economic, health.

Pressure group: - exercise pressure to the government
- riot, social reform, peaceful presentation of memorandum,
assemblies.

FUNCTIONS
- As the independent body for their(society) needs.
- To voice out their need
- To voice out the legislative body
- To influence the public
- To protect citizen’s right

TACTIC USED BY NGO TO OBTAIN POWER
- Use the media to campaign
- Releasing newsletter, magazine bulletin, newspaper.
- Electronic media – programme.

TYPE OF INTEREST / PRESSURE GROUP
- Occupational group – protect the employees rights/ needs.
- Professional group: Bar Council –lawyers
- Civil right movement: FOMCA, Malaysian Aids Association
- Social group movement: TENAGANITA-protects the women right
- Political movement: ABIM-to promote Islam as religion, political changes ….

WHY DO WE NEED NGO???
- Useful link between people and government.
- Promote interest of a specific group.
- Can express their views.
- To promote, encourage democracy system.
- The government will recognize them and will be the checker o the government.

POLITICAL ISSUE IN MALAYSIA
1) Human right
2) Constitutional monarchy in Malaysia-YDPA
3) Multiracial society
4) The position of religion
5) Special right of the bumiputera.
